Dental Implants

At Royston Dental Care, we’ve successfully placed over 1000 dental implants. Each procedure is undertaken by a highly-qualified Specialist using the latest technology and equipment.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that integrates perfectly into your gum tissue, where the root of your missing tooth would normally sit. They are secure, permanent solutions to replace missing teeth – one implant may even replace multiple missing teeth.

Once surgically placed, implants are indistinguishable from natural teeth and help retain the structure of your surrounding teeth, jaw, and face. Implant dentistry offers a long-term solution to patients with multiple missing teeth.

3 Different types of implant placement

Immediate placement

Lingual braces allow patients to straighten their teeth without any visible brackets, archwires, or trays. Though you can’t see the treatment, you will experience visible results. Depending on the severity of their dental issues, adults, teens, and children are all suitable candidates for hidden lingual braces.

Early placement

Placed 6-8 weeks after the tooth extraction. This is our preferred option in cases where there is a lack of bone or infection.

Delayed placement

Placed after a tooth or teeth have been removed or missing for some time. This process may require bone grafting to ensure the success of the implant.

FAQs about dental implants

When you lose your natural teeth, the jawbone and surrounding tissues start to retreat or disappear over time, altering the structure of your face and giving your mouth a sunken appearance. When implants are placed in the jaw, it stimulates the remaining bone, causing it to grow and mesh around the titanium. This can help prevent bone loss from taking place and give you a more youthful appearance.

Yes. In fact, dental implants may be a great solution for you. A single dental implant may be enough to replace an individual tooth or multiple missing teeth. For more extensive cases, our Specialists may recommend full arch dental implants. Patients wearing full dentures or experiencing multiple failing or loose teeth due to decay may be eligible for the latter.

At Royston Dental Care, we strive to provide you with the highest quality care and dental implants to give you a solution that will last for years. We usually see a success rate of about 90-95% at 15 years, but your implants could last much longer with proper care.

Unfortunately, many patients have received low-cost services using low-quality implant components and placement procedures.

The first sign of a problem is often soreness or bleeding from the gum mucositis. Treatment at this stage may prevent progression to peri-implantitis, when progressive bone loss starts to become an issue, and can ultimately lead to catastrophic loss of the supporting bone and the implant.

Problems with implants can take years to develop and often progress slowly. That means we can often catch problems before they become too aggressive. Continuing your regular cleanings and telling our team if you suspect a problem is important.
